Federal forestry guidance puts the working limit for wheeled equipment near 30 percent slope. Tracked machines stop near 40 percent. The same guidance warns operators off rocky and broken terrain, because rock wears cutting teeth fast. That describes most of the volcanic and river terrace ground around here. Cutting brush and grass on your own land needs no permit in California. Permits attach to what gets added on top of the cutting. What happens to the cut material is scoped in the estimate before we start. We rake it into clean piles, or load it out by the trailer-load. The Redding Transfer Station charges $34.75 a ton for green waste under rates effective July 1, 2025. It refuses stumps, dirt and concrete, which go to the West Central Landfill in Igo instead. Burning is off the table this season. CAL FIRE suspended burn permits in the Shasta County State Responsibility Area on June 15, 2026. Once a parcel is open, holding it that way is ongoing lot cleanup and maintenance.
